EXHUMATION COMPLETED IN VLASENICA MUNICIPALITY; MORTAL REMAINS OF ONE PERSON FOUND
23.08.2017. 12:57The mortal remains were transported to the premises of the Public Utilities Enterprise ‘Commemorative Centre’ in Tuzla, where identification by the DNA analysis will be performed and the identity of the victim whose mortal remains were found will be determined.
An Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was present in the field, directly overseeing and coordinating the exhumation process under the supervision of the Prosecutor in charge of the respective case.
The exhumation was carried out with the participation of the officers of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist and police officers of the Police Station in Vlasenica.
Employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina participate, almost on a daily basis, in the search for, and exhumation of, mortal remains of the victims of war crimes committed throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
