EXHUMATION COMPLETED IN BRATUNAC MUNICIPALITY
24.04.2017. 15:13Supervision and coordination of the exhumation process was performed by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
Others involved in the process of exhumation were officials of the Institute for Missing Persons, a doctor specializing in forensic medicine, police officers of Bratunac Police Station, as well as workers required to use the appropriate machinery of the Commemorative Center Tuzla.
The recovered remains will be transported to the Commemorative Center Tuzla for forensic processing i.e. bone samples will be taken for DNA analysis aiming to determine the identity of the victims.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, together with all the institutions involved in the process of tracing and identifying the missing persons, continues its intensive activities on the search for missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
