PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH ISSUED AN INDICTMENT AGAINST BRANKA ŠEKARIĆ, ACCUSED OF DISCLOSURE OF IDENTITY OF A PROTECTED WITNESS IN WAR CRIMES CASE.
06.02.2017. 15:22The accused is charged with having made public, during the course of the proceedings conducted before the Court of BiH against her husband Dragan Šekarić who was subsequently convicted of war crimes committed in the Višegrad area, via social network, on two occasions, the identity of a protected witness in a war crimes case, and by doing so revealed information without authorization about her identity which was declared secret by decision of the Court of BiH.
Dragan Šekarić was sentenced to imprisonment of 17 years for war crimes committed in Višegrad in 1992.
The accused is charged with having committed the criminal offense of Disclosure of Identity of a Protected Witness in violation of Article 240 3) in conjunction with (1) of the CC BiH.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
