INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST JOZO PERIĆ FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN LIVNO AREA
23.12.2016. 13:04The accused is charged with having acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, during the war in BiH and the armed conflict between the Croatian Defense Council and the Army of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the northwestern Herzegovina, in the period from July 1993 until the end of February 1994.
According to the indictment, the accused has, while acting in his capacity as member of the Office of the National Security - Livno branch, Department of Internal Affairs of the Croatian Community of Herzeg-Bosnia, committed the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians - ethnic Bosniaks in the territory of Livno municipality.
He is accused of torture, abuse and inhumane treatment of Bosniak victims.
Consequently, the accused is charged with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 142 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
