INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN TESLIĆ
23.12.2016. 12:58The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes issued an indictment against the following person:
¾ Nebojša Mirović aka Nešo and Srbijanac, born in 1962 in Belgrade, where he resides, a citizen of Serbia.
The accused is charged with having acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilians Persons in Time of War and with having committed War Crimes against the Bosniak victims - men from Teslić and its surrounding area, during the war and armed conflict in BiH, while acting in his capacity as a member of the police of PSC Teslić.
The accused is charged with having, on several occasions, in the spring and summer of 1992, personally, alone or with others, unlawfully incarcerated, separated and abused ethnic Bosniak victims whom he tortured and beat in different ways, often to the point of inflicting fatal injuries.
One civilian died as a consequence of the abuse and ill-treatment two to three days after it happened, another victim was unable to move for several months and many victims, including a minor, have suffered injuries the consequences of which they still feel today.
The accused is charged with having committed War Crimes against Civilians.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will prove the allegations with statements of about 30 witnesses and dozens of exhibits.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
