UPON THE ORDER OF THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE, ONE SUSPECT OF WAR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY COMMITTED IN THE AREA OF MOSTAR DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY
22.12.2016. 07:51This suspect was deprived of liberty by the police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who acted upon the order of a Prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The aforementioned suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and he is charged, as a member of the 1st Klis Battalion of the 3rd Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO), with the commission of the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians, as referred to in Article 142, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, in late October or early November of 1993, in Mostar, during the war and armed conflict between the army of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) and the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH).
At the same time when the suspect was deprived of liberty, his family house was searched, along with the accompanying facilities and the suspect’s vehicle, which resulted in finding weapons from the previous war and some military documentation and other evidence related to the war period.
Following his deprivation of liberty, the suspect will be handed over to the Prosecutor in charge of this case, for further action.
