INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST RUŽICA BIČVIĆ FOR ILLEGAL TRADE OF EXCISE PRODUCTS

According to the indictment, the accused is charged with having, on 13 October 2014, acquired a certain amount of cut tobacco from a person known to her, which was not labeled with excise stamps as prescribed by BiH tax legislation and which she intended to put into circulation.
On the above mentioned day at around 14:40 hours the accused attempted to transport 20 kg of dry cut tobacco intended for smoking packed in 40 transparent plastic bags that were placed in the trunk of her vehicle from Bosnia and Herzegovina into the Republic of Croatia across the international border crossing in Novi grad, without reporting it to officers of BiH Indirect Taxation Authority and BiH Border Police.
During the inspection of the motor vehicle at the border the officers of BiH Border Police found and temporarily seized the aforementioned tobacco.
The accused Bičvić is charged with the criminal offense of Illicit Trade in Excise Products under Article 210a (1) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
