REMAND IN CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR MEHMED TUTMIĆ (1958)
16.11.2016. 13:03Prosecutor of the Terrorism Section filed a motion to the Court of BiH to remand the suspect Mehmed TUTMIĆ, born in 1958, suspected of a criminal offense of Organizing a terrorist group under Article 202d (2) in conjunction with (1) all in conjunction with Article 201 of the CC BiH.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against Mehmed TUTMIĆ, which was confirmed by the Court of BiH on 2 June 2015 but the defendant did not respond to multiple plea hearing summonses, after which an arrest warrant was issued for him.
The accused was at large for about a year and a half and was then located and arrested in the vicinity of Zenica by the police and security agencies.
During the deprivation of liberty of the accused an automatic rifle with 30 bullets and a bullet in the chamber was found in his possession.
The accused TUTMIĆ is charged with having been at the battlefields in Syria and Iraq, where he was active in the paramilitary structures of the so-called "ISIL"
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH requested remand in custody to ensure the presence of the suspect during court proceedings.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
