Topics discussed at the Collegium were results achieved in the first quarter of 2016, planned results for the year, as well as increase in results when compared to the previous year.

The Prosecutor’s Office will, by fall of this year, reach a historical number of 5.000 accused persons in its institution, which is certainly an important result for the institution of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the entire judicial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bearing in mind that the accused persons are charged with war crimes, organized crime, corruption, terrorism, financial crime, trafficking in persons, international drug smuggling and other criminal offenses within the jurisdiction of the prosecutor’s office, this result speaks volumes about the great effort and commitment of Prosecutors, Legal Officers, Investigators and all other employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

This year the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will reach the number of 600 persons indicted with war crimes and serious violations of International Humanitarian Law, which will make the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH an institution with the highest number war crimes indictees in the world, after the World War II and the Nuremberg and Tokyo tribunals.

The activities related to the renovation of the facilities of the Prosecutor’s Office and the preparations for the beginning of construction of a new building for the prosecutor’s office were also presented at the Collegium.

It was also highlighted that the Prosecutors, who were appointed a few months ago to the Section for Terrorism, have commenced intensive work on cases, which will contribute to the fight against terrorism and prevention of terrorism and activities related to terrorism, as well as the departure of BiH citizens to foreign battlefields.

In view of the increased number of Prosecutors the results of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH are expected to be very good this year.
