CHIEF PROSECUTOR GORAN SALIHOVIĆ MEETS THE CHIEF PROSECUTOR OF PARIS. CENTRAL TOPICS OF THE MEETING ARE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM AND INTERNATIONAL SMUGGLING OF ARMS AND EXPLOSIVES.
10.06.2015. 15:20The Chief Prosecutor Salihović has informed the colleagues from France about the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its prosecution of cases related to terrorism and unlawful smuggling of arms and explosives with international elements. In these cases, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has established cooperation with judicial and security institutions of France.
The colleagues from France have expressed interest in the development of good relations and cooperation in fighting terrorism, locally and globally, and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, being fully aware of the danger of terrorism, is conducting the activities aimed at prosecuting such cases and has intensive contacts with its partner institutions in the region, in Europe and worldwide.
The participants at the meeting have agreed that smuggling of arms and explosives, most commonly used for the perpetration of grave criminal offenses of terrorism or organized crime, poses a serious security risk and threatens the safety of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina; therefore, such illegal activities call for a decisive reaction of the judiciary, police and security agencies in detecting and punishing the perpetrators.
At this meeting, the setting up of joint investigative teams of the Prosecutor’s Offices of the two respective countries has been agreed. Such teams would conduct joint investigations into the criminal offenses linked with both Bosnia and Herzegovina and France. The conclusion from this meeting is that the partner cooperation of the Prosecutor’s Offices of Bosnia and Herzegovina and France, respectively, will be continued and intensified in the future.
