ONE PERSON SUSPECTED OF THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF TERRORISM DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY UPON THE ORDER OF THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE
15.04.2015. 14:46Along with the aforementioned deprivation of liberty, searches of premises, facilities and vehicles used by the suspect are being conducted upon the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and pursuant to the Warrant issued by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The suspect is under investigation for several activities that may be brought in connection with terrorism and, on several occasions in the past period, he used the symbols and signs of the so-called ISIL organization which was declared a terrorist organization by the United Nations Security Council and he created incidents and endangered the security situation in the territory of Sarajevo.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and police and security agencies have received information that, for a short period of time, this suspect resided in the territory of Syria and that he has contacts with members of the so-called “Wahhabi Movement” from Bosnia and Herzegovina who fight as members of ISIL and paramilitary formations in the battlefields in Syria and Iraq, which is forbidden by law to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina resumes its intensive activities aimed at fighting terrorism and terrorism-related criminal offenses. Due to the increase in the number of such cases, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has requested the institutions of power in Bosnia and Herzegovina to strengthen the capacities employed in fighting terrorism.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
