CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION OF CAMP PRISONERS OF BIH
13.02.2015. 15:20Mr. Goran Salihović, Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has met with Mr. Jasmin Mešković and Mr. Suljo Kmetaš, representatives of the Association of Camp Prisoners of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the meeting, the issue of prosecution of war crimes cases has been discussed, with an emphasis on the prosecution of cases pertaining to the territory of Prozor-Rama and its surroundings, as well as to the wider territory of Herzegovina.
The meeting has also been attended by the Deputy Chief Prosecutor and Prosecutors who are Heads of the respective Sections within the Special Department for War Crimes.
The Chief Prosecutor has said that, in this year, the Special Department for War Crimes has intensified the prosecution of the war crimes cases for the territory of the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that the cooperation with the associations of victims from all regions of Bosnia and Herzegovina continues.
Moreover, it has been noted at this meeting that some of the cases for which representatives of victims have shown interest are already in progress, and that Prosecutorial decisions with respect to these cases may be expected in the period to follow.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is maintaining intensive contacts with representatives of the associations of victims and having meetings with representatives of victims from the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, because bringing justice to victims is the most important priority in the prosecution of war crimes cases.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
