CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH CHARGÉ D’AFFAIRES OF THE U.S. EMBASSY IN BiH
25.09.2014. 12:19The central topics of the meeting were efforts and results of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in the fight to establish the rule of law and improve efficiency in case processing.
Chief Prosecutor informed Mr. Hill that in this year or to be exact in the first 8 months of the year the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued 29 indictments against 59 individuals who were charged with war crimes, which is the best result in the history of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in terms of the number of indictments and accused persons; he also informed that the total number of indictments issued is 116 against 313 persons for all types of criminal offenses within the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, which indicates that by the end of the year the largest number of indictments in a single year is to be expected.
During the meeting the parties discussed the activities carried out in the fight against terrorism, organized crime and corruption.
Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States voiced his support to the Chief Prosecutor and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in their efforts to establish the rule of law in our country and to achieve the best possible results aiming to create the safest possible living environment for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
