Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH - Goran Salihović met with representatives of the Association Movement of Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa enclaves.

Representatives of the families of war crimes victims have asked to expedite the prosecution of war crimes, the exhumations and the identification of victims of war crimes.

Chief Prosecutor informed the representatives of victims’ families that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH makes every effort to expedite the work on war crimes cases in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Intensified activities have led to results where in just 8 months of this year 29 indictments were issued against 59 persons accused of war crimes, which is the best result in the history of the institution, and by the end of the year more than 50 indictments for war crimes are expected to be issued- stated the Chief Prosecutor.

In connection with the exhumations, he pointed out that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH constantly appeals to all institutions in BiH, as well as international organizations involved in this process, to provide the maximum of support and resources to expedite the process. He also pointed out that we have recently obtained satellite images of possible mass grave sites, including some located in the Drina valley, and that in the coming period these locations would be examined.

Representatives of victims emphasized their support to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH for the work on prosecution of war crimes, as well as support to the cooperation based on the Protocol on cooperation with the Office of the War Crimes Prosecutor of Serbia.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH maintains its good relations and partnership with representatives of war crimes victims from all nations throughout BiH because the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the families of victims have the same goal - to detect and prosecute perpetrators of war crimes and to get justice for the victims.
