CHIEF PROSECUTORS SALIHOVIĆ AND VUKČEVIĆ MET REGARDING THE ISSUE OF ESTABLISHMENT OF LIAISON OFFICERS UNDER THE PROTOCOL ON COOPERATION. PROSECUTOR VUKČEVIĆ SUPPORTED THE OPERATIONS CARRIED OUT BY THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH IN THE PAST FEW DAYS
12.09.2014. 14:00The establishment of mutual liaison officers under the Protocol was discussed at the meeting. The officers in question would be situated in the office of the partner institution as representatives of their own respective institutions aiming to expedite and improve the technical cooperation on specific cases.
The cases in which the two offices work together were discussed as joint activities should soon follow. Such activities will surely satisfy the families of the victims because they will lead to significant progress in prosecution.
Prosecutor Vukčević commended the work and activities of the Prosecutor’s Office carried out in the past two weeks, when more than 8 significant and extensive operations were carried out resulting with the arrests of more than 75 persons 20 of which were apprehended in war crimes cases.
Prosecutor Vukčević pointed out that the fact that this is the busiest working period of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH from its inception is a clear indication that it is possible to efficiently combat all types of criminal offenses and that this is an important step in establishing the rule of law in the region.
Prosecutors Salihović and Vukčević also met with the Chief Prosecutor of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals - Mr. Hassan Jallow with whom they agreed on future cooperation between the two prosecutor’s offices and the Residual Mechanism.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
