A joint police operation involving dozens of police officers of the RS MoI and Sarajevo Canton MoI was carried out pursuant to the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The Assigned Prosecutor is out in the field in Banja Luka managing the overall operation, issuing orders and coordinating the work of the police forces in the field.

During the course of these activities a total of 8 persons were deprived of liberty in Sarajevo (3) and Banja Luka (5).

They were under investigation as members of two organized groups, involving Dugalić Edin (1968) from Sarajevo and Brnić Dragiša (1959) from Banja Luka, which dealt with international smuggling of Cocaine and Marijuana through the territory of several countries, hence the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH cooperated with the judicial and police authorities of the Republic of Croatia (USKOK), Slovenia, Hungary, the Netherlands and Germany during the course of this operation in the aim to conduct the investigation, detect and document the committed criminal offenses and collect evidence.

Once she questions the suspects in Banja Luka the Prosecutor will file a motion for remand in custody of the majority of those arrested, including the suspect with Dutch citizenship and residence in Rotterdam.

Within the scope of this well-coordinated operation the police forces in BiH have demonstrated a high level of professionalism in realization of tasks and cooperation and coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH. The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH would, therefore, like to thank all domestic and international law enforcement authorities for the assistance in this successful operation of dismantling the chains of international drug traffickers.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH continues its activities in the fight against international drug smuggling, as well as in detection and dismantling of organized criminal groups involved in smuggling of hard drugs.
