INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST ŽELJKO OBRADOVIĆ (1962) FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF SMUGGLING OF GOODS
14.07.2014. 10:12The accused is charged with arriving at the Unka border crossing in the Municipality of Čapljina, on 28 March 2014, while driving his passenger’s motor vehicle with Croatian registration plates, and informing the authorized officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina that he was not transporting any goods subject to customs or special approvals.
After the inspection performed by the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, four packages with the total number of 640 live turtles were found in the trunk of the vehicle, the import of which was regulated by the Rulebook on the Conditions of Import and Transport of Live Animals, Raw Materials, Products and By-Products of Animal Origin, Veterinary Medications and Animal Food in Bosnia and Herzegovina and prohibited if the conditions for such import were not previously met.
The accused is charged with attempting to move across the customs line goods the export of which is prohibited, by avoiding the measures of customs control and without appropriate approval, whereby he committed the criminal offense of Smuggling of Goods, as referred to in Article 214, Paragraph 2, in conjunction with Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
