EXHUMATION OF THE BODIES OF VICTIMS KILLED IN THE PAST WAR CARRIED OUT IN GORAŽDE MUNICIPALITY
02.07.2014. 15:08The found skeletal remains will be transported to the ossuary of the Sveti Marko Public Utilities Enterprise in Istočno Sarajevo /East Sarajevo/, where forensic analysis will be performed, the cause of death will be determined and bone samples will be taken for the DNA analysis in order to establish the victims’ identity.
The exhumation process was supervised in the field by an Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whereas representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist and police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) were also participating in the process of exhumation.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with institutions involved in the process of tracing missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina, continues its activities in the process of conducting exhumations and tracing missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
