BY ORDER OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH THREE PERSONS SUSPECTED OF CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY WERE DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY
05.06.2014. 15:061. Vlasenko Mitar, born on May 14, 1955 in Prijedor, BiH citizen,
2. Vlasenko Rade, born on February 16, 1960 in Prijedor, BiH citizen, and
3. Končar Drago, born on June 18, 1959 in Prijedor, BiH citizen.
These suspects are under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and are suspected of having, as members of the Army of the Serb Republic of BIH, killed seven Bosniak persons in Kozarac area during the course of a widespread and systematic attack of the army, police and paramilitary directed against the civilian Bosniak and Croat population in Prijedor Municipality in the period from May 24, 1992 until the end of June 1992.
They are suspected of having committed the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Along with the deprivation of liberty a total of three locations will be searched in order to locate evidence that can be brought into connection with this criminal offense.
Following the arrest the suspects will, within the legal deadline, be handed over to the Assigned Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH who will question the suspects and then make a decision on a motion for remand in custody.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
