PROHIBITING MEASURES PROPOSED FOR SUSPECTS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY IN THE ACTION WITH THE CODE NAME OF ‘CASANOVA’

A Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has submitted to the Court of BiH a Motion for Imposing Prohibiting Measures on the persons suspected of the criminal offenses of Organized Crime, as referred to in Article 250 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, as referred to in Article 195 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • PROHIBITING MEASURES PROPOSED FOR SUSPECTS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY IN THE ACTION WITH THE CODE NAME OF ‘CASANOVA’

These suspects were deprived of liberty by authorized police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency- SIPA, on 24 March 2014, in the areas of Mostar, Trebinje, Nevesinje and Jablanica, and they were subsequently handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH within the statutory time limit.

The persons deprived of liberty are suspected of becoming members of a criminal group organized for the purpose of procuring, transporting and selling of the Heroin and Marijuana narcotic drugs in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the territory of the Republic of Croatia.

According to the evidence collected, this group was continuously conducting an illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs from Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, from April 2013 to March 2014, for the purpose of acquiring unlawful material gain. 

Having questioned the suspects, the Prosecutor in charge of the case has submitted to the Court of BiH a Motion for Imposing Prohibiting Measures for reasons described in Article 126 and Article 126a of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina; accordingly, the following prohibiting measures have been proposed: prohibition from travelling abroad, prohibition from issuing travel documents of BiH and order to submit any and all travel documents of BiH in their possession, prohibition from using their identity cards to cross the state border, prohibition from meeting with other suspects in this case, and order to report weekly to the relevant police station.

The Motion for Imposing Prohibiting Measures has been submitted to the Court of BiH, and the Prosecutor’s Office resumes its investigation in this case with the aim of issuing an Indictment.
