AN EXHUMATION OF BODIES OF VICTIMS FROM THE PAST WAR COMMENCED IN BOSANSKA KRUPA MUNICIPALITY
26.03.2014. 15:05At the site of Jasenica, in the Municipality of Bosanska Krupa, an exhumation commenced today and remains of one body were found.
Samples for the DNA analysis were taken from this body in order to establish the victim’s identity. The DNA analysis of this sample will be performed at the laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).
The remains of the found body will be transported to the City Cemetery of Banjaluka, where it will remain until the completion of its forensic analysis and identification.
The exhumation process was supervised by a Legal Officer of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, who coordinated the work of police, forensic and other authorized persons conducting the process of exhumation, as instructed by the Prosecutor.
The exhumation was attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, representatives of the Ministry of the Interior of Una-Sana Canton, an expert forensic pathologist and the Legal Officer of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with institutions involved in the process of tracing missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina, resumes its activities pertaining to the process of conducting exhumations and finding missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
