CHIEF PROSECUTOR OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH AND PRESIDENT OF THE COURT OF BIH MET WITH A BRITISH DELEGATION
21.02.2014. 15:46During the meeting, the Chief Prosecutor stressed the importance of judicial independence and non-interference of politics through adoption of unfavorable legislation underpinning the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of BiH, as well as laws governing the status of judges and prosecutors in the judicial system.
He also stressed that the priorities of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH are fight against corruption and organized crime and war crimes cases.
Mr. Simon Hughes stated that it is crucial to keep the judiciary independent and that the United Kingdom will, together with the EU, continue its support to an independent judiciary.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
