TWO SUSPECTS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

Upon the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, two persons suspected of war crimes committed in 1992, in the territory of Bileća Municipality, were deprived of liberty. The deprivation of liberty was carried out by the police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency of BiH, acting upon the order of a Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
  • TWO SUSPECTS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

Pursuant to the order of the Prosecutor of the Regional Team 4 of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the following suspects were deprived of liberty:

-      Neđeljko Kuljić, born on 18 June 1950 in Simijova, Bileća Municipality, where he also resides, and

-      Željko Ilić, born on 10 October 1962 in Bileća, where he also resides.

The aforementioned persons are subject to investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and are suspected of participating in unlawful arrests, torture, beating and mistreating of imprisoned Bosniak and Croat civilians in several facilities, including the Bileća Police Station. On prisoner died, and more than 150 persons were imprisoned.

These persons are under investigation due to the grounded suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity, as referred to in Article 172, Paragraph 1, item (h) of the Criminal Code of BiH.  

The suspects will be handed over to the Prosecutor in charge of the case within the statutory time limit, and the respective Prosecutor will question the suspects and subsequently decide whether to file a motion seeking custody or imposition of prohibiting measures.
