CHIEF PROSECUTOR OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH AND PRESIDENT OF THE COURT OF BIH MET WITH THE DELEGATION OF JUDICIAL INSTITUTIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY
28.11.2013. 15:23Judicial reform was discussed at the meeting as well as international judicial cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Turkey.
The Chief Prosecutor informed the guests about the efforts of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH on strengthening the capacities to prosecute war crimes and organized crime, the activities concerning the relocation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to a separate building with adequate capacities to accommodate all employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH as well as activities on strengthening the regional cooperation in prosecution of war crimes and organized crime.
During the visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the justice ministries of the two countries signed an Agreement on Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters and an Extradition Treaty between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Turkey.
These legal documents will contribute to a more efficient cooperation between the two countries in the fight against serious crime, as well as cooperation in finding and bringing to justice the perpetrators of crimes.
During the meeting the parties agreed to continue the cooperation between judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Turkey.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
