EXHUMATIONS OF VICTIMS KILLED DURING THE PAST WAR CARRIED OUT IN FOČA AND GORAŽDE MUNICIPALITIES
26.11.2013. 15:04Exhumations were carried out at the locations of Prizren cemetery and Kutle in Ustikolina municipality. The complete remains of one person were unearthed at both locations.
The recovered remains shall be transported to Goražde for forensic and criminal investigation proceedings as well as for collection of DNA samples for analysis. The DNA analysis shall be handled by the DNA laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP). Following the DNA analysis the remains shall be identified.
The exhumation process was supervised by a Legal Officer of the Special Department for War crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, a doctor specializing in forensic medicine, the required workers and machinery as well as Police Officers of PS Foča and PS Goražde.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing in BiH, continues its activities in the process of tracing and exhuming the missing in all parts of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
