INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST FOUR PERSONS FOR SMUGGLING OF GOODS
20.11.2013. 14:51- Abid Porić, born on February 10, 1981 in Bužim, where he permanently resides, a citizen of BiH,
- Izet Salkić, born on May 28, 1978 in Bužim, permanently residing in Bosanska Krupa, a citizen of BiH,
- Hasib Malić aka "Bibo", born on March 28, 1982 in Bihać, permanently residing in Cazin, BiH citizen, and
- Hasib Velagić aka "Braco", born on January 13, 1981 in Cazin, where he permanently resides, a citizen of BiH.
The accused persons are charged to have, on July 31, 2013 at about 11:30 P.M., evaded customs control and transferred a certain quantity of livestock from Croatia into BiH across the customs line in the area of Ravnice located in the municipality of Velika Kladuša, outside the designated border crossing and without proper authorization-permit of the BiH Veterinary Office, which is contrary to the Rulebook on Conditions of Import and Transit of Live Animals, Raw Materials of Animal Product, Animal Waste, Veterinary Medicines and Feed into BiH (Official Gazette No. 52/09 and 38/10).
Consequently, the accused are charged to have, as co-perpetrators, transferred goods, the import of which requires special approval or permit of the competent authority, across the customs line without proper authorization and by way of avoiding customs control thereby committing the criminal offense of Smuggling of Goods under Article 214, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with Article 29 the same Code.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
