INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST FRANJO VIDOVIĆ FOR ILLICIT TRAFFICKING IN ARMS AND MILITARY EQUIPMENT

18.10.2013. 15:40
Prosecutor of Department III within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an Indictment against Franjo Vidović, born on August 12, 1950 in Hrgovi Donji,  Gradačac Municipality, with prior convictions, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, charging him with the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Arms, Military Equipment and Dual Use Products under Article 193 of the Criminal Code of BiH, in conjunction with Article 29 of the same Code.

As alleged in the Indictment, the accused Franjo Vidović is charged to have, on October 22, 2011 at around 8 a.m. at the international border crossing "Broad", participated in the import of a rifle "ADLER ITALY MOD. JAGER AP-74 22LR CAT. 1406" into BiH without a permission required pursuant to the legal provisions in the BiH.

Specifically, the accused had previously obtained the aforementioned rifle in Switzerland and asked an unidentified person in Onsingen - Switzerland to pack the rifle in a travel bag and hand it over to a bus driver of a Swiss company who was driving the bus from Basel to Mostar. He had also told him that the bag would be collected by a person somewhere near the petrol station which is located in the municipality of Gradačac and handed over to him in person.

According to the indictment, the intent was not realized because the authorized officers of BPU "Brod" discovered the above-mentioned rifle during an inspection.

The Indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
