EXHUMATION OF A VICTIM FROM THE PAST WAR CARRIED OUT IN ZVORNIK MUNICIPALITY
09.10.2013. 13:43At the site of Vitinica in Zvornik Municipality, incomplete mortal remains of one person were exhumed. The found mortal remains will be transported to the Commemorative Center in Tuzla, where forensic, as well as criminal and technical analysis will be performed, the cause of death will be determined and bone samples will be taken for the DNA analysis in order to establish the victim’s identity.
The exhumation process was coordinated in the field by a Legal Officer of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, whereas officers of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist and police officers of the Kozluk Police Station participated in the search for, and exhumation of mortal remains.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with institutions involved in the process of tracing missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of conducting exhumations and tracing missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
