EXHUMATION OF VICTIMS KILLED DURING THE PAST WAR IN VIŠEGRAD IS IN PROGRESS
23.09.2013. 15:00Several fragments of skeletal remains have been unearthed in the process of tracing and exhuming the remains up to this point. It shall subsequently be determined whether the remains found are all of one person or several persons. The exhumation will continue in the following days.
The recovered remains shall be transported to Goražde for forensic processing, collection of bone samples for DNA analysis and identification.
The exhumation process is coordinated by a Legal Officer of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, doctor specializing in forensic medicine and Višegrad PS police officers.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the exhumation processes, continues with its activities on exhumations and the process of tracing the missing in all parts of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
