DOKER’ JOINT POLICE ACTION CONDUCTED UPON THE ORDER OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH. FIFTEEN PERSONS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY AS SUSPECTS FOR LIVESTOCK SMUGGLING IN THE VALUE EXCEEDING 1 MILLION KM. TWO OFFICERS OF THE BORDER POLICE DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY DURI

Pursuant to the Order of a Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, a joint police action, ‘Doker’, was conducted involving several dozen of BiH Border Police and SIPA officers in the field, as ordered by the Prosecutor.  

During this action, searches of around 20 locations were carried out in the wider area of Bijeljina and the total number of fifteen persons were deprived of liberty, two of which persons were police officers of the Border Police of BiH, Border Police Unit in Bijeljina.

The persons that are subjects to the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH are suspected of Organized Crime in conjunction with the criminal offense of Smuggling across the state border of BiH.

These persons are suspected of acting as an organized group with precisely divided tasks and smuggling around 1000 head of mostly large livestock from the territory of Serbia to BiH, the market value of which is estimated to exceed one million KM.

According to the evidence collected during the investigation which lasted several months, this smuggling was mostly conducted by transporting the livestock across the illegal border crossings across the Drina and the Sava rivers to Bosnia and Herzegovina.  

The persons deprived of liberty will be handed over to the Prosecutor in charge of this case within the statutory time and the Prosecutor will question them and subsequently decide for how many of these suspects she will file a motion seeking custody or other prohibiting measures prescribed by law.

This action demonstrates the commitment of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to fight organized crime and criminal offenses causing damage to the economic system of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it represents positive efforts of the Border Police in detecting and sanctioning perpetrators of crimes among the officers of the Border Service of BiH.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH continues its investigation in the case with the code name of ‘Doker’ with the aim of issuing an Indictment.
