CHIEF PROSECUTOR OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH MET WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
09.08.2013. 15:40In a discussion with the Chief Prosecutor, H.E. Patrick Moon, the Ambassador, expressed his support to the strengthening of the capacities for the prosecution of war crimes cases, and the plans and activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH related to strengthening of the capacities and increase in the number of Prosecutors, as well to the relocation to the new building with adequate space for the work of the employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, as these are also recommendations of the Structured Dialogue on the Reform of Justice between the EU and BiH.
H.E. Moon also said that they will continue supporting independent judiciary, namely courts and prosecutor’s offices, as this is one of the goals of the Government of the United States of America.
Mr. Salihović said that the increase in the number of Prosecutors and strengthening of capacities would assist efficient prosecution of cases of war crimes, organized crime and corruption, and he thanked the Ambassador of the United States of America to Bosnia and Herzegovina for the continuous support of the US Government to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and strengthening the establishment of the rule of law in our country and he also expressed his hope that the cooperation would continue in future.
The Chief Prosecutor Salihović wished the Ambassador Moon successful continuation of his diplomatic career.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
