EXHUMATIONS IN VIŠEGRAD AND RUDO COMPLETED
02.08.2013. 15:01An exhumation at the site of Staro Rudo in Rudo Municipality was completed under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and one complete body was also exhumed.
The found mortal remains will be transported to Višegrad, where samples will be taken for the DNA analysis in order to establish the victims’ identity.
The DNA analysis of these bodies will be performed in the laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).
The exhumation process was coordinated by an Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and the exhumation was attended by officers of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist and representatives of the RS Ministry of the Interior-Višegrad Police Station and Rudo Police Station.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other law enforcement agencies and institutions involved in the process of tracing and identifying the missing persons, continues its activities in the process of tracing and conducting exhumations of mortal remains of the war crimes victims in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
