EXHUMATION AT THE KROMOLJ SITE IN SARAJEVO COMPLETED
31.07.2013. 15:16The found mortal remains will be transported to the Miljevići Memorial Ossuary in Istočno Sarajevo /East Sarajevo/, where samples will be taken for DNA analysis to establish the victim’s identity. The DNA analysis of this body will be performed in the laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).
The exhumation process was coordinated by an Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and the exhumation was attended by officers of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist and representatives of the Ministry of the Interior of Sarajevo Canton.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other law enforcement agencies and institutions involved in the process of tracing and identifying the missing persons, continues its activities in the process of tracing and conducting exhumations of mortal remains of the war crimes victims in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
