CHIEF PROSECUTOR AND OFFICIALS OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH MET WITH THE DELEGATION OF THE STATE PROSECUTORIAL COUNCIL OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA
19.06.2013. 14:59Mr. Goran Salihović, Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, and Prosecutors and officials of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH met with the delegation of the State Prosecutorial Council of the Republic of Serbia which is in an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina and to HJPC of BiH.
At this meeting, colleagues from BiH and Serbia discussed prosecutorial organization and authorities, as well as activities of Prosecutors and Prosecutor’s Offices in the process of establishing the rule of law and activities related to the regional cooperation of Prosecutors.
Chief Prosecutor Goran Salihović emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between partner institutions in the countries in the region, since the fight against organized crime and corruption has long ago shown that crime knows no boundaries; hence, efficient cooperation of judicial institutions is a necessity.
In the course of this meeting, it was stressed that BiH and Serbia invested significant efforts into establishing the rule of law on their path to European integrations, as well as that efficient judiciary and fight against crime were key elements for progress in this process.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
