EXHUMATION OF VICTIMS KILLED DURING THE PAST WAR CARRIED OUT IN PRIJEDOR MUNICIPALITY
13.06.2013. 15:09An exhumation was carried out at the location of Trnopolje – old mosque in Prijedor municipality. Skeletal remains of one person were unearthed.
DNA samples shall be collected for the purpose of identification of the victim. DNA analysis shall be handled by the laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).
The recovered remains shall be transported to the Identification Center Šejkovača in Sanski Most for forensic processing and identification.
The exhumation process was supervised by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office who acted on instructions of the prosecutor and coordinated the efforts of police, forensics and other authorized persons participating in the exhumation process.
The exhumation was attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, a doctor specializing in forensic medicine, RS MoI police officers and an Investigator of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing and identifying the missing, continues its activities in the process of tracing and exhuming the missing in all parts of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
