ZORAN MITROVIĆ (1979) EXTRADITED TO BIH JUDICIARY
19.03.2013. 15:47Zoran MITROVIĆ aka "Luftika", born on February 21, 1979 in Loznica, where he permanently resides, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia, is charged with organizing and membership of an organized criminal group under Article 250 of the CC BiH, as well as for direct participation in the commission of multiple criminal offenses.
Zoran MITROVIĆ is a member of a criminal enterprise of Darko ELEZ, and has participated in the murders committed in the territory of East Sarajevo and Sarajevo. He is charged with organizing the border crossing between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina for the hired killers as well as for smuggling people and narcotics. Darko ELEZ is in prison in Sremska Mitrovica - Serbia serving a nine-year prison sentence because he was the organizer of a criminal group that trafficked drugs on the territory of Serbia and BiH in 2009.
Eighteen suspects of the aforementioned criminal enterprise were apprehended on September 12, 2012 in a joint police operation codenamed "Lutka" /doll/, carried out by hundreds of police and law enforcement officers from the state and entity levels. Remand in custody was requested for all of them including the suspect Zoran MITROVIĆ, who was unavailable to the police authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Prosecutor's Office of BiH requested the Court of BiH to issue an international arrest warrant for the suspect Zoran MITROVI”. Following the extradition, he was remanded in custody on grounds specified in Article 132, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph a) of the CPC BiH i.e. due to risk of flight.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH continues its activities in this case with the aim to proceed with the indictment.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
