EXHUMATIONS OF VICTIMS FROM THE PAST WAR WERE CARRIED OUT IN KLADANJ AND BRATUNAC MUNICIPALITIES
05.03.2013. 14:54An exhumation was carried out at the location of Turalići - Kanjon Jezernica in Kladanj municipality resulting with the uncovery of incomplete remains of one body. In the municipality of Bratunac incomplete remains of five bodies were unearthed at two locations: Bokčin potok and Mratinjci - Oborišta, no remains were uncovered at the third location at Glogove Njive.
The recovered remains shall be transported to the Commemorative Center Tuzla for forensic processing i.e. determination of the cause of death, and collection of DNA samples for the purpose of identifying the witnesses.
Exhumations were supervised by a Legal Officer of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, who acted in accordance with the instructions of the Prosecutor while coordinating the work of police, forensic experts and other authorized persons engaged in the process of exhumations.
Exhumations were attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, a doctor working in the field of forensic medicine, workers and machinery as well as Police Officers of Kladanj PD and Bratunac PS.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of tracing and exhuming the missing in all parts of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
