CUSTODY MOTION FILED FOR KAHRO VEJZOVIĆ
25.02.2013. 15:11The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed a motion with the Court of BiH for remand in custody of the suspect Kahro VEJZOVIĆ, born on May 23, 1970 in Tarevo, Kladanj municipality.
Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Assigned Prosecutor who has questioned the suspect and then filed a motion with Court of BiH requesting remand in custody for a period of one month on grounds stipulated in Article 132, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph a) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH.
Remand in custody of the suspect was requested due to risk of flight.
Kahro VEJZOVIĆ is suspected with having, during the war in BiH as a member of the reserve police forces of Stupari police station, acted contrary to Article 3, Paragraph 1, Subparagraphs a) and c) and Article 147F IV. of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War where he, alone or together with other members of Stupar PS, participated in intentional inflictions of serious bodily and mental pain and suffering (torture) and violations of bodily integrity or health of ethnic Serb civilians who were illegally confined in teachers’ buildings and in the old local community office in Stupari, Kladanj Municipality.
Custody motion was filed with the Court of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
