INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST TWO PERSONS FOR SMUGGLING OF GOODS
20.02.2013. 15:16- T.A. (1979) from Šamac, a citizen of BiH and Republic of Croatia, and
- H.A. (1989) from Šamac, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The accused are charged with having, at about 10.20 p.m. on May 30, 2012 in Donja Dubica - Trnjak hamlet located in the municipality of Odžak, transported a large quantity of cigarettes, which the primary accused person obtained earlier from persons known to him and hid in the back seat of a motor vehicle Opel " Zafira " with BiH license plates owned by the accused T.A., across the border at a place located right next to the border and the river Sava, but away from the place designated for crossing the border between BiH and the Republic of Croatia.
As alleged in the indictment, the accused persons have, in this manner, transported 550 cartons of cigarettes - "Walter Wolf" with excise stamps of the Republic of Serbia in the estimated total value of 16.500 BAM, but were caught on a side road in the immediate vicinity of the border crossing and prevented by BiH Border Police Unit Brod in their intention of further smuggling cigarettes across the border into the Republic of Croatia.
The accused are charged with having evaded measures of customs control while attempting to transfer goods of greater value across the customs line, thereby committing the criminal offense of Smuggling of Goods under Article 214, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH, in conjunction with Article 26 of the same Code.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
