CUSTODY MOTION FILED FOR TWO SUSPECTS

10.12.2012. 15:30
Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed a motion to the Court of BiH to render two French nationals, suspected of committing the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Arms, Military Equipment and Dual Use Products under Article 193 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed a motion with the Court of BiH to remand the following suspects into custody:

A.E. born in 1988, a citizen of France and Algeria, and

S.B.E. born in 1989, a citizen of France.

Following the deprivation of liberty the suspects have been handed over to the Assigned Prosecutor, who has questioned them as suspects and subsequently filed a custody motion with the Court of BiH.

After questioning the suspects, the Assigned Prosecutor filed a motion with the Court of BiH for remand in custody for a period of 30 days on grounds stipulated in Article 132, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph a) of the BiH Criminal Procedure Code. Custody was requested due to risk of flight, given that the suspects are French nationals who would render themselves unavailable to BiH judiciary if they were to flee from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They are suspected to have arrived to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Sarajevo airport on December 4, 2012 and to have then contacted a BiH citizen and bought one automatic M-70 rifle and a bulletproof vest that they wanted to smuggle into France, but were caught in the commission of the criminal offense and deprived of liberty by the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA.

Custody motion was filed with the Court of BiH.
