INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR PERJURY
21.11.2012. 15:49The Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against J.R. (1976), from Sarajevo, with prior convictions, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The accused is charged with having, while acting as a witness in the criminal proceedings before the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, given false testimony.
Specifically, J.R. is charged to have, during the trial of persons charged with organized crime in conjunction with the theft of motor vehicles and following the conclusion of a plea agreement, subsequently testified before the court and given a testimony opposite to the one given and signed in the investigation, aiming to ensure an advantageous position for one accused person.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
