EXHUMATION OF A WAR VICTIM WAS CARRIED OUT IN GORNJI VAKUF MUNICIPALITY
15.11.2012. 15:06The recovered remains shall be transported to the morgue of the funeral company in Travnik for forensic and crime-related technical processing, as well as collection of DNA samples for analysis. The DNA analysis of the remains shall be handled by the laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP). Once the DNA analysis is completed the process of identification of the remains shall commence.
The exhumation was supervised by a Legal Officer of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, a doctor working in the field of forensic medicine, police officers of Central Bosnia Canton MoI – Travnik Police Department and Gornji Vakuf PS.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of tracing and exhuming the missing in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
