EXHUMATION IN ZVORNIK MUNICIPALITY CARRIED OUT ON 09 OCTOBER 2012, AND EXHUMATION COMMENCED ON 09 OCTOBER 2012 IN BUSOVAČA MUNICIPALITY CONTINUES TODAY

In the municipalities of Zvornik and Busovača, exhumations were carried out under the supervision an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.  

On 09 October 2012, exhumation at the site of Kazanbašča, Zvornik Municipality, was carried out and skeletal remains of at least three (3) persons were found.

The remains thus found will be transferred to the Commemorative Center in Tuzla, where samples for DNA analysis will be collected in order to establish the victims’ identity. The DNA analysis of these bodies will be performed in the laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

Exhumation at the site of “Crni Potok” quartz mine, Busovača Municipality, commenced on 09 October 2012 and it continues today. On 09 October 2012, some explosive devices were found at this site, so the terrain-clearing activities are being carried out today for the purpose of continuing the exhumation process.

These exhumations were supervised by an Investigator of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, who was acting in accordance with the instructions of the Prosecutor while coordinating the work of police, forensic experts and other authorized persons engaged in the exhumation process.

The Zvornik exhumation was attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, representatives of the RS Ministry of the Interior, an expert forensic pathologist and an Investigator of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, whereas the exhumation in Busovača is also being attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist and, in addition, by representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), representatives of the FBiH Department for Civil Protection and representatives of the Special Police Unit- Alpine Team of the FBiH Police Department.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of conducting exhumations and tracing missing persons in all parts of BiH.
