EXHUMATION OF THE REMAINS OF VICTIMS KILLED IN THE PAST WAR IS BEING CARRIED OUT IN OSMACI MUNICIPALITY
27.09.2012. 15:09An exhumation is being carried out at the location of Hajvazi on the territory of Osmaci municipality. The remains of nine war crime victims were unearthed so far. The exhumation process shall continue tomorrow.
Following the recovery, the remains shall be transferred to the Commemorative Center Tuzla for further forensic processing and identification via DNA analysis.
The exhumation process is supervised by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), a doctor working in the field of forensic medicine, workers and machinery of the Commemorative Center Tuzla and RS MoI officers.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of tracing and exhuming the missing in all parts of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
