EXHUMATION OF THE REMAINS OF VICTIMS KILLED IN THE PAST WAR IS BEING CARRIED OUT IN ŠEKOVIĆI MUNICIPALITY
12.09.2012. 15:37The recovered remains were transported to the Commemorative Center Tuzla where DNA samples shall be collected in an attempt to identify the victims. The DNA analysis of the remains shall be handled by the laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).
The exhumation process was supervised by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and attended by representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, forensic pathologist and representatives of the RS MoI.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other law enforcement agencies and institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of tracing and exhuming the remains of war crimes victims in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
