EXHUMATIONS OF THE VICTIMS KILLED IN THE PAST WAR WERE CONDUCTED IN ZVORNIK AND BRATUNAC
29.08.2012. 14:45Exhumations of the remains were carried out at the location of Liplje in Zvornik municipality and at the location of Konjević Polje in Bratunac municipality.
During the search for mortal remains several skeletal remains were unearthed at both locations. The recovered remains shall be transferred to the Commemorative center Tuzla where samples shall be collected for DNA analysis in the attempt to identify the victims.
The exhumation process was supervised by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, a doctor working in the field of forensic medicine, workers and machinery of the Commemorative Center Tuzla, as well as representatives of RS MoI.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of exhuming and tracing the missing in all parts of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
