INDICTMENT FILED AGAINST DEJAN RADOJKOVIĆ (1951)
14.08.2012. 15:12Prosecutor of the Team VI within the Special Department for War Crimes of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office has filed an Indictment against Dejan Radojković, born on 03 January 1951 in Pale, with prior convictions, citizen of BiH, who was deprived of liberty at the Sarajevo International Airport on 24 May 2012 by the BiH Border Police, after his deportation from the USA, pursuant to the arrest warrant issued by the Court of BiH; he is being held in custody since 25 May 2012.
As a Commander of the Third Platoon within the 2nd Company of the Jahorina Training Center of the Special Police Brigade of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior (MUP RS), during the armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina between the BiH Army and the Republika Srpska Army, in the period between 12 and 17 of July 1995, the accused Dejan Radojković is alleged to have committed a murder and thus violated the provisions of Article 3(1)(a) of the IVth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
The Indictment alleges that the accused Dejan Radojković commanded his platoon along the Bratunac-Konjević Polje road in the mission of capturing Bosniak civilians who tried to escape from the UN Safe Area of Srebrenica, during which mission members of his Platoon captured a group of five to seven Bosniak civilian men, and opened fire at one man and wounded him. The Indictment further alleges that the wounded man was left unattended in a nearby brook until early morning hours which is when Dejan Radojković went there and shot him dead from a Kalashnikov rifle.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
