CUSTODY MOTION FILED FOR A PERSON SUSPECTED OF SMUGGLING LARGER QUANTITY OF NARCOTIC DRUGS
01.08.2012. 15:03The suspect M. A. (1965) from Sarajevo was deprived of liberty yesterday morning by the authorized officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA.
Remand in custody was requested pursuant to grounds stipulated in Article 132, Paragraph 1, Subparagraphs a) b) and c) of the CPC BiH i.e. due to risk that the suspect could flee, and due to the fact that, if released, the suspect might repeat the crime, influence witnesses or accomplices and interfere with the investigation.
The aforementioned suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and is suspected of the criminal offense of Organized Crime under Article 250, Paragraph 4 of the CC BiH in conjunction with the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs under Article 195, Paragraph 1 of the CC BiH.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with law enforcement agencies, continues with intense activities in this case.
Custody motion was submitted to the Court of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
