INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST ANTE VASILJ (1963) FOR SMUGGLING IN PERSONS
24.07.2012. 12:32As alleged in the indictment, the accused has on May 8, 2012 at about 6:00 pm on the IBC Doljani - Čapljina municipality approached the border control in his motor vehicle from the direction of the Republic of Croatia on entry to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As further alleged in the indictment, the accused Ante VASILJ has hidden a German citizen in his car in front of the passenger seat and covered her with his leather jacket although he knew she was denied entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina a few hours earlier on the same day at another border crossing because of an Interpol Notice.
The accused Ante VASILJ promised the aforementioned German citizen that he will transport her across the state border to Međugorje even without travel documents.
In this manner the accused has, in the intent of obtaining benefits for another, unlawfully transported a person across the state border, thereby committing the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
