JOINT UNA ACTION CARRIED OUT. SEVERAL SUSPECTS OF SMUGGLING OF PERSONS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY

Along with these deprivations of liberty, searches of a number of locations have been conducted in several cities of BiH.
The investigation conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is directed against a larger number of persons suspected of participating, as an organized criminal group, in smuggling of illegal emigrants across the territory of BiH and towards EU.
In an earlier phase of investigation, operational support was provided by the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (OSA).
During this action coordinated by a Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, a few dozens of police officers from several law enforcement officers participated in the field work.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH emphasizes the importance of such actions aimed at fighting illegal migrations, which is in accordance with the road of BiH towards European integrations.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH continues its investigation in this case in the direction of filing an Indictment against several persons suspected of the criminal offense of Organized Crime under Article 250 in conjunction with the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
